Prague will soon join the ranks of global metropolises such as Tokyo, Lugano, Hanoi, or El Salvador’s El Zonte. Thanks to the solidarity of the Czech Bitcoin community, a monument dedicated to the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto himself, will be erected in the heart of Europe.
The statue is the work of artist Valentina Picozzi and is being created as part of the global Satoshi Gallery initiative. The plan for this ambitious project, subtitled We are all Satoshi, is to place a statue of the creator of the most famous cryptocurrency in a total of twenty-one world capitals.
Ensuring that Prague is definitely one of them is the responsibility of a strong local Bitcoin community led by the Jednadvacet.org initiative. Within the Czech Republic, the project beautifully revives the historical idea associated with the construction of the National Theatre. This time, however, it is not kreuzers being sent to the altar of the homeland, but sats.
Target Amount Raised, What’s Next?
The fundraising campaign was officially launched on June 12, 2026, at the BTC Prague conference. The community immediately demonstrated its incredible strength, as the first major milestone of one collected bitcoin was very quickly surpassed.
Currently, the transparent tracker shows an amount exceeding 1.04 BTC, which translates to more than 1.4 million crowns. Over 1,700 contributors have joined forces so far.
Although the production of the artwork itself is funded, the campaign continues smoothly toward a new goal of 1.3 BTC. The additional funds raised are necessary to smoothly overcome bureaucratic and logistical hurdles.
The extra finances will cover necessary transport, customs, the installation itself in a Prague public space, and also the long-term subsequent maintenance of the monument.
