A foldable iPhone is closer than ever, Apple has announced the premiere date
Apple is planning a revolution in Cupertino. Alongside the new generation of iPhone 18, the historic premiere of a foldable iPhone Ultra model and the arrival of a new CEO are expected. Find out everything the anticipated September 9th keynote will bring and what other innovations Apple will reveal.
Apple has confirmed the date for its traditional autumn product event. The keynote, themed “Surprise and Shine,” will take place on September 9th at Apple Park in Cupertino, with the start scheduled for 10:00 AM Pacific Time, which is 7:00 PM Central European Time. The event will also be available to watch online.
This year's presentation could be extraordinary for the company for several reasons. It will be the first major product event under the leadership of John Ternus, who will take over as CEO on September 1st.
After more than 15 years at the helm of the company, Tim Cook will move into the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.
The foldable iPhone is attracting the most attention
The main highlight could be the first-ever foldable iPhone, which has been the subject of speculation for several years. According to available information, Apple is expected to choose a book-like design that transforms into a device close in size to a smaller iPad when opened. The name iPhone Ultra has also appeared in the media as a possible designation.
Alongside it, the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models is expected. These should offer the new A20 Pro chip manufactured using 2nm technology and camera improvements, but they reportedly won't bring a fundamental design change.
According to several sources, the standard iPhone 18 is not expected to arrive until spring 2027, which would mark the first time Apple has significantly split the launch of a new generation of phones into two parts.
New watches and smart home products may arrive
Apple is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 in September. Other smart home products are also in play. We could potentially see devices such as:
- the new HomePod mini,
- Apple TV 4K,
- the long-awaited home hub with a display.
However, it is not certain whether Apple will show all these products during the September keynote or save some of them for another autumn event.
Announcement of new operating systems
The presentation should also include the announcement of release dates for upcoming software updates. We can look forward to, among others:
- iOS 27,
- iPadOS 27,
- macOS Golden Gate and other systems.
