Winning the Lottery with Braiins Hashpower on Their Solo Pool

A sensation in the world of cryptocurrency mining has become a reality. An unknown miner managed to secure a block with a reward of 3.125 Bitcoin using rented computing power.

The entire operation cost him just 119,000 satoshis, which translates to approximately $75. For such a small amount, he managed to generate a reward worth several million crowns.

The Miner Rented Hashrate

The miner rented a hashrate of 1 petahash per second. With this relatively modest power, he joined the network and got incredibly lucky. He hit block number 938092. The successful mining of the block was also confirmed by Braiins, the company through which the user brokered the computing power.

New from Braiins: Braiins Hashpower is a place where you can buy mining power – starting from $8!

Mining Without Expensive Hardware

Braiins Hashpower and this case clearly demonstrates that success in the cryptocurrency world doesn't always require owning giant mining farms full of expensive machines. Renting power, or cloud mining, represents an alternative path. It allows individuals to participate in the transaction validation process without having to deal with the purchase, maintenance, and cooling of physical hardware.

Those interested in a similar approach simply rent power on specialized platforms. They pay a certain fee for a given hashrate for a specific period. In case of success, they collect the reward for the solved block.

How Does Hashrate Rental Work?

  • The user chooses a platform offering power rental (e.g., Braiins Hashpower).
  • They pay a fee in satoshis for the selected hashrate and time period.
  • The rented power is directed to a solo mining endpoint.
  • If a block is found, the entire reward (currently 3.125 BTC) goes to the miner.

Warning: Solo mining is an extremely risky activity. The chance of finding a block with a low hashrate is minimal. This case is exceptional and cannot be considered a common result.

We cover this concept in detail in our article about mining without the need to buy expensive hardware, where we describe the exact functioning of the Braiins Hashpower platform.
